A vignette is a compilation of decorative pieces, that together, form a cohesive display.
Vignettes add interest and complete your space. In this blog we are going to break down the elements of the coffee table vignette we staged in the Bluewater Health Foundation 2022/2023 Dream Home.
YOUR BASE
Every Vignette needs a solid base to anchor and ground the display.
We used our Ash-wood Wicker Tray as our base. It was a great tray for our space because it is nice and large so, it feels proportionate on our large ottoman. Its woven texture also adds interest and its golden colour adds warmth.
HEIGHT
If you have read our blogs, you will know that we emphasize the importance of height when styling a composition. We used our tall Ida Vase and then added even more height by placing eucalyptus greenery inside. The greenery also helps bring some colour and life to the design.
Books also work great to add height to shorter items. We love stacking books and using them to anchor other items that can be placed on top. So, pick your favourite coffee table books and get styling!
LAYERING
Layering is an important part of styling a vignette. In this set up, we layered our Terracotta Beads on top of our stack of two coffee table books. We also placed our LJ Design Co. Candle in the scent Amber Driftwood which lends ambiance and warmth to the vignette.
Because the tray is so large we also added a vintage water canister as an additional decorative piece to help fill the composition.
